my car battery light came on and then my car power started tpo die while driving, several mechanics told me it was my alternantor and I was wondering what exactly has to be done to change the alternator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
CAUTION:When vehicle battery is disconnected, vehicle computer systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION article.

GENERATOR
Removal & Installation (2.0L Breeze & Stratus)
Disconnect negative battery cable from remote negative terminal on shock tower. Disconnect generator field circuit connector. See Fig. 1 . Remove BAT terminal nut and wire. Loosen, but DO NOT remove, adjusting "T" bolt. Loosen, but DO NOT remove, pivot bolt. Loosen adjusting bolt to allow removal of generator drive belt. Remove generator drive belt.
Remove "T" bolt and pivot bolt. DO NOT lose pivot bolt spacer. Release generator from mounting bracket and move it toward passenger head light bucket. Remove generator from head light bucket area. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten generator drive belt to proper specification. See BELT TENSION under ADJUSTMENTS. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
