When the donut between the exhaust manifold and exhaust piping was replaced they stated the springs are week. I am noticing a exhaust smell inside now. Is it hard to replace these springs / bolts?

Yep, I always just broke em off, or used an air gun to take them off. Took around 2 minutes or so. Gotta use an air tool, or spray them up, let them sit and try, your not going to be able to take them off in your driveway, but let me know, the fumes are a bad thing. I'd rather youn got it fixed, or don't drive it, unless you keep your window down slightly, ok. Thanx for owning an Acclaim, one of the best cars made.
