Do I need to get a new key if I get a new pats for the car?

This is just a transceiver which means it gets the key info from a programmed key and sends it to the PCM. It is not an intelligent module so you should be able to just plug it in and keep the same keys.

Do you know where I can get a new transceiver? Dealers say their obsolete now and some of the part stores I have been to can't find them.

I am seeing the same thing. Unfortunately that leaves salvage yards for you to try and find one off another vehicle.

Sorry but that is not uncommon for these age vehicles. I even looked on ebay and didn't see anything. Let me know if you are able to find one.

If you cannot, then the only other other option is to get a PCM that doesn't have this system on it so that it will just start the vehicle on any key cycle. This is not the best because it eliminates the theft system and I have seen them cause other issues.
