Passenger side noise

So one night I was driving my car on a country lane I think I went over a pothole. It was very dark all of a sudden I heard a big bang noise. So pulled over to have a look couldn’t see anything as I initially thought I had hit something. Then when I was going over speed bumps or uneven road could hear from the passenger side wheel area a rattling noise like something has come off? If you don’t go over uneven roads or speed bumps you wouldn’t know anything was wrong it sounds as though something is loose.

I suspect the issue is you have a broken spring or failed strut. I included the process on how to replace this but that is what would make sense in this case. If you are not hitting bumps then it is quiet but as soon as you hit something that strut is bottoming out or spring is popping.

When you hit the bump does it sound like a thud or metallic sounding?

If you can get a recording of you hitting speed bump so we can hear the noise, that will help as well.

I included the process below on how to replace this as I suspect that is the issue.

Let us know thanks.

Thank you. I also suspect this is what it is as it sounds metallic rolling around going over uneven road and bumps other than that you would never know anything is wrong. I’m taking it to garage on Friday was wondering how much those types of things were to fix? I will add a recording later on.

It depends on the part price that you decide to go with and if it turns out to be the strut or spring. However, in most cases it will be between $250.00 to $400.00.

Let us know what they come back with as I am curious what it turns out to be. Thanks
