I was parked in a parking garage and it seems that someone must have backed into me (when I was not there) and did some damage to my paint. There does not seem to be any damage to the structure of the car. I took the car to an approved repair shop (as per the insurance company) and the charge for repairs is luckily under the deductible. However, I am unsure about two things. The repairs are to take place Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon. In the mean time can I get a car wash? I was concerned about getting a car wash for two reasons. I do not know if the car wash can make the paint damage worse. Also, the trim piece that covers the key hole for the trunk was about to come off (I do not know if that came from the crash or not.) The person at the body shop just removed it and put it in a secure place inside the car and said that he will fix it for no added charge with the job. I do not know if a car wash could make putting the piece back harder. I want to get a car wash because the car is quite dirty and a bird actually pooped a lot on the car. Also, I was concerned that if I did not get a car wash could the bird poop do any damage to my paint?

If it is a reputable shop,

They will clean and prep the areas that need attention, as they will want their work to be the best it can be and last.

Fowl have been targeting vehicles forever, It is remained on them for years at a time, the paints they use these days resist a lot of abuse.

I would not worry about a car wash, much of the time a body shop will wash it anyway to remove dust and other stuff that might contaminate the new paint process.
