Check engine came on went to AutoZone to get the code they said p16cf
had to order the part but wont be in for three days. Can I drive my car without causing damage or more issues? I maintain my car and do oil changes at the dealer like clockwork. Please let me know if it is okay to drive until I can have that part put in.
Thanks

Hi Champaine,

This DTC is telling you that the actuator used to control rocker arm to change the camshaft lift and duration to optimize timing for each situation. If this code is active then the system will go to default mode or lock pin which means it will not alter the rocker arm to change the duration or lift. Basically, it will be like you don't have the variable system or its benefits.

It is safe to drive the vehicle like this but obviously you will want to not delay the repair because your engine will be less efficient while it is like this.

Let me know if you need more information. Thanks
