Go to a different shop. P1053 is for an open circuit on the bank 1 intake VVT solenoid on the intake. Its the right side (passenger side) front solenoid. Its an open circuit code so there is a good chance the VVT solenoid is the issue and you replaced the wrong one (there are 4 of them) - however there is a chance that its a wiring or pcm issue as well. Make sure that the correct VVT solenoid was replaced and report back which one you swapped out. If its not the solenoid then you are going to have to get into some electrical diagnostics or find a better shop to take it to.

Yep, chances are you need to replace the opposing solenoid but I need to tell you I have seen these codes come up when the timing chain, guides and timing chain actuators where out but I would do the solenoid first, the correct location of the one you need to change out is on the left die of the engine nearest the intake manifold. Clear the codes once completed. Also make sure the engine oil is clean and full with a new oil filter. These can effect the camshaft engine codes as well. Please let us know what you find.
