I want to replace the coil pack, but on this 2.4L VTEC 4 cylinder I find mixed information online on which is the #1 cylinder. What is the cylinder arrangement on this engine? Is it (pass 1234 driver) or (pass 4321 driver) while viewing the engine from the front standing there looking at it? I have attached additional picture info which may help clear up exactly what type of car / engine I have.

Hi,

Cylinder one is at the front of the engine (where the accessory drive belt/serpentine belt) is located.

I attached the image below for you. If you have a cylinder one misfire and question if it is the coil, switch the coil with cylinder two and see if the misfire moves to cylinder two. If it does, then you know for sure the coil is the issue. If it stays on one there may be a different issue.

The suggestion is to confirm before purchasing a new one. Most parts stores won't take an electrical component back.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks Joe,

Thanks to you I knew right where #1 cylinder was and I replaced the ignition coil. The problem happened suddenly said the owner. Therefore, I removed and replaced that particular coil. Everything is fine now, and I cleared the code, test drive, and wrapped up the job. Much appreciated the image of the cylinder location as it was hard to definitively find it online for that particular model car's engine.
