The diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0171 and P0052 in a 2008 Vauxhall Zafira indicate issues related to the engine's air-fuel mixture and the oxygen sensor. Here's what each code typically means:

P0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1):

This code suggests that the engine is running with a lean air-fuel mixture on Bank 1. Bank 1 typically refers to the side of the engine that contains cylinder number 1.

P0052 - HO2S (Heated Oxygen Sensor) Heater Control Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
