Camshaft position sensor Bank1. I have searched all over the internet to get an actual diagram of where the sensor’s location is to no avail. All I would like is to actually see where the location is in a vehicle of this type. The diagram I’ve seen gives me no help at all. Not what to remove nothing. Please show me and tell me what to do.

The P0017 code stands for "Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor B)".

I would make sure the engine oil is clean and full, also I have seen the oil control solenoid clog up and cause this code as well. Here is what the sensor looks like. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thank you, Ken L. This information you provided to me is helpful, but it is exactly what I had tracked down through all of my own research. I’m 43 and definitely not an everyday mechanic, but do know how to change oxygen sensors, change oil, plugs, brakes, etc. I was hoping to get an actual picture/photo of the exact location. So, I will continue to try and figure out this sensor. Just don’t want to pay a mechanic $300+ for putting on the new sensor in 3 minutes.
You mention in your final paragraph the oil control solenoid a possibility of giving the same P0017 code. So, where is the oil control solenoid located? How can I “unclog” this part? Please elaborate if you could. Thank you again.

Yes, the oil control valve is responsible for moving the camshaft/crankshaft correlation and when not working correctly it will cause that code to come up, please looks at 4, 5 and 7 and 8 in the diagrams above, it shows the location, I would remove them and check the oil screen at the end of the valve.

This guide can explain the system and I have left information on your car in the images below:

Check out the images (below). Please let us know how it goes, also does the engine make any noise out of the ordinary when running?
