Owner manual engine oil changing intervals

This is a common question for all cars assuming the recommended intervals are logically for traditional mineral oils (worst case), not synthetic.

So, intervals using synthetic can be, say doubled basing upon its superiority, right?

Oil type recommendations only mention viscosity.

Good evening,

Yes, manufacturers will recommend oil viscosity as required for the engine. As far as to change intervals, it will vary as you see in the manual based on your driving conditions. If you do short runs it is less. If you drive long runs the intervals are ore. If you tow, it is very low due to heat build up in the oil.

Synthetic is a good oil to use as it increases the interval for changing. I always recommend oil changes at 8,000 to 10,000 mile but changing the oil filter and adding one quart at 5,000.

Just my opinion as a former business owner.
