Overheating and rattling from engine

My car starts to overheat whilst driving, the fan comes on (very loudly) and once this happens my car starts to judder all over the place. The fan stays on for about five minutes then once it’s off the car goes back to normal.

I have just recently had a new EGR valve fitted and two fuel injectors replaced as the mechanic believed they may have been the issue.

Since this work has been done, the engine now makes a loud rattling noise whenever I accelerate and the overheating/juddering is still occurring.

I have no check engine light on so I don’t know what the problem could be.

Even after short journeys, my fan comes off when I’ve turned the car off.

What could be the problem?

This could be a problem with your vehicle's thermostat. The thermostat is like a gateway in your vehicle's cooling system that remains closed until the coolant reaches a pre determined temperature, then the thermostat opens, allowing the coolant to flow across the radiator and then around your engine to cool it. It is in place to keep the coolant hot enough so your vehicle will have a heater and defroster, but not to hot not to cool your engine. If your thermostat sticks in the closed position, your vehicle will over heat. Here are a couple of links below for you to go to:
