Hello,
i would like to know where is located the overdrive solenoid on my vehicle listed above or Hilux surf 3.0 TD automatic from 1993.
I would like to test it before ordering this part.

on the gearbox plate is written:
AISIN AW CO
model no 30-43LE
35000
3D300
SERIAL NO 93JE43660

The overdrive never goes in it stays off.
On the dashboard the OD sign is either off or on/off but never on.
I serviced the gearbox with new oil and strainer but nothing has changed.

The other gears shift but late.
Can you help?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Judith,
When overdrive is engaged, it would never show you anything. Only when you turn overdrive off, would the indicator be showing that you have disabled overdrive.

To test if the overdrive is functioning, cruise at about fifty mph, note the engine rpm and then press the overdrive button to let the "overdrive off" light to indicate. If the engine rpm shoots up, it means overdrive was engaged and is now disengaged. Press the overdrive button again and when overdrive engages, the engine rpm would drop.

Overdrive solenoid is within the transmission assembly and you would need to remove the oil pan to gain access to it. I can't seem to be able to get a good diagram showing the overdrive solenoid.

Hello, thanks for your answer.
We drive also other automatic cars and I am sure this one's overdrive does not work.
So you say the overdrive electrical commander is understand the oil pan?
And not outside the gearbox like on top or on the side?

It is crazy I cannot get the exact picture of of this part. I asked a Toyota dealer here and they have no diagrams or plans either. The car is Japanese should I contact Toyota Japan?
Thanks
