I have cold air from driver side and hot at passenger side

Hi, I took out the driver blend actuator while still plugged wire and when change modes of air condition the white piece of actuator moves and looks fine. So does this mean the actuator is fine? So why still cold air comes at driver side despite I set temperature to 90 F?
Is there any other causes than actuator?

Hi,

If it is turning, it's working. However, it looks like one of the teeth is broken from the plastic gear. Can you confirm that for me?

Hi,

I checked the the teeth and all are present. No broken one there.
What do you think is the cause?

Something is preventing the actuator from opening the door. It could be stuck or the motor, although it turns when removed, isn't strong enough to open the door.

Since you have heat on the passenger side, it has to be either the air temperature door or the actuator itself. Are you able to move the door manually (in place of the actuator)?

Is there any clicking from the motor when you have it installed and try to use it? If you place a small amount of pressure on the gear when it is out, does it still turn?

Hi, yes I heard a click once, it was loud, what this mean?
Yes it move despite resistance of my hand.
By the way, how many actuators does this vehicle contain at (front) side of it?
I mean two only, the passenger and driver?
I hear there is for 1-hot/cold 2-blend, 3-recirculate.

Hi,

If you look at the attached picture, it indicates all of the actuators. There is one for fresh / recirculate (air inlet), two for the air temp entering the vehicle (left and right blend doors), one is for air flow directions (mode door), and the one listed as auxiliary would be for rear HVAC.

Where the tooth is missing on the actuator you have, are you certain it isn't broken away? Also, if you take a light and a small mechanic's mirror, can you look in to confirm the teeth that make contact with the actuator you have is not damaged.

Hi, I opened the actuator and found broken tooth from two parts as in pic below.
Is this the temperature driver actuator that shown in the second picture? Thanks

Hi,

If the pic is taken looking upward, yes. That is the one for the driver's side. You certainly found the problem. If you look at the first pic below, it shows the actuator responsible for the driver's side.

Here are directions for replacement specific to your vehicle. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

Removal and Installation

NOTE: The LH temperature blend door actuator is present on dual-zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) vehicles to control the LH temperature blend door only. Vehicles equipped with Electronic Manual Temperature Control (EMTC) are not equipped with this actuator. For EMTC vehicles, refer to Temperature Blend Door Actuator - RH See: Air Door Actuator / Motor, HVAC > Removal and Replacement > Temperature Blend Door Actuator - RH.

1. Disconnect the LH temperature blend door actuator electrical connector.

2. Remove the 2 LH temperature blend door actuator screws.
- To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).

3. Remove the LH temperature blend door actuator.

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions. Just as a note, the directions indicate a 2wd model. I'm not sure if your vehicle is 2 or 4 wheel drive. However, the directions remain the same for either, so don't be alarmed if you have a 4wd. The same directions apply.

Take care,
Joe
