2008 Opel Corsa problem shifting to 5th gear

Hi

I have brough an Opel Corsa Lite 14.0 last year, the car is now almost a month and hald old.
Has done ± 1600 kms

I am having a problem shifting to 5th gear. When relaeasing clutch it is in 3rd and engien revs above 4.
Afraid I will damage my engine.

Wasn't sure if it was because i'm not used to shifting to 5th gear or not.

Is this a common problem? And if so, why is it a problem?

You will need to practice putting the car into 5th gear with the engine not running. So you can locate it properly

Hi.

Yes, I asked a friend of mine to test driver the car. It was found that there is a trick to get into 5th gear.
One just needs to very slightly slip out of 4th imeediately to the far right and up. I was taking the gear lerver to far up to the middle, where it goes back into 3rd gear.

Also ignore the gear shift diagram on the gear lever as it is confusing. I would have made the diagram differently with the 4th to 5th gear lower and not to the middle as with all the other gears. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

So yes, this is just a matter of practice tubtil it's perfect.

Guess a lot of others also had problems trying to get into 5th gear?
