My van has broken 2 belts today, After the second belt, I started looking for why. It looks like the crankshaft pully / harmonic balancer is pulled out away from the block. I dont know what is wrong. Aside from the belt breaking, the engine runs great. I have checked the tentioner and it is operational. All other pulleys are working as designed. Cay you tell me why my crankshaft pulley is about 1/2 inch out of allignment, and How do I fix it?

Hi jcjepickett,

Thank you for the donation.

When the harmonic balancer damper rubber has gone bad, the pulley would be out of alignment and moves in a wavy pattern.

Check if the crank pulley main bolt is securely torqued, if yes, the crankpulley has to be replaced to rectify the problem.
