EGR valve gaskets

Keeps blowing egr valve gaskets, I have replaced egr valve, what else could be causing this? Vehicle is a 93 cutlas supreme with a 3.1 engine. Someone suggested the catalitic convertor could that be the probem??

Maybe why its blowing gasket is-its open at all times. Check the vacuum at the EGR it shouldn't have vacuum at idle.

A partial clogged exhaust system involving the Cat will produce backpressure
