2003 Olds Alero, Auto, 3.4L, 44k miles. Reliable car.

Heater: The heat actuator door didn't work before, dealer failed to find any problem, but I just found a pinched vacuum line. Now the actuator door is shut to outside air when inside air recirculate button is used, with specific vent selections. Windshield settings completely open the door and the outside air freezes the feet. I think the door should open according to inside temp and the heat setting. On max heat, the door should block most outside air.

Trunk Release: trunk randomly is opened without using the key FOB nor the door button. More strangely, this happens on occasion while driving. I thought it would only open with the neutral switch indicating neutral or park.

The recirculate button has nothing to do with temp, it simply lets in fresh air or closes off the cabin. Tha defroster turns on the a/c, this could explain the cold air you are feeling when in defrost mode. As far as th etrunk release, is it located near where the pinched vacuum line was? Sounds liek th edash has been apart before and there could be a pinched or grounding wire that is releasing the trunk
