1993 Other Oldsmobile Models Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Automatic 138000 miles

My car was hard to start for a few weeks on and off. One day it would not turn over, no clicking sound or anything. Started with the battery and replaced since it was 5 plus years old. Still not working. Took off the starter and had the shop test. It turned out it is good. Could this be the ignition switch? I don't want to replace another item to find out I'm out of more money! Thanks for any help you can give.

When turning the key check the purple wire at the starter for voltage. If you have power at the purple wire the starter is no good, if no voltage at purple wire check voltage at the neutral safety switch on the transmission, you should have power at the fat yellow wire and purple wire at neutral safety switch. If power at yellow and none at purple then replace the neutral safety switch, if no power at the yellow then check for power at the yellow wire at the base of the steering column, if no power there then you have a bad ignition switch or there is no power at the big red wires going to the ignition switch. This should help. Let us know
