1988 Other Oldsmobile Models 1988 Olds Delta 88 wont start/E

Hello- Working an a 1988 olds delta 88 that won't start after some severe cold weater (temps to -15 deg. F). It cranks fine, but will not start. It seems to fire very intermittently. Downloaded the ECM and got code 63 for EGR number 3 solenoid faliure. The part is rather expensive, and before replaceing, I would like to make sure this would indeed keep the car from starting. It is a 1988 olds delta 88 V6, vin "C". This is what the EGR solenoid looks like on this model:

Hi, I would suggest you take the part to an autoparts store where it can be tested. Most of these stores now have a ase certified "tester"so be sure and deal with him/her as this part can cost as much as 150.00 or so.I used to work in autoparts just so you know.I hope this helps!Oh, testing is free.
