After driving on the freeway for 10 minutes, the first light I come to my engine will start feeling jumpy so I'll give it gas and it makes a grinding noise, but wont accelerate until after I give it gas for a couple seconds. It will eventually die. I've changed the cat con, oil, fuel filter, oxygen sensor, and air filter recently. I did the spark plugs and wires 5000 miles ago.

Hi:
It sounds like an ignition module problem, but I don't understand the grinding you hear. Can you tell where the sound is coming from? Also, is the check engine light coming on?

I cannot tell where the sound is coming from. When I give it gas it wont speed up till after it makes a griding noise for a few secs. The light has turned on before but not the last two times it has happened.

I don't know if I made it clear, but it makes the grinding noise when I give it gas after it starts to feel like its going to die.

Hi:
The grinding noise has to be coming from an axle or the transmission. The engine problem sounds sensor related. If the light has come on, take it to a nationally recognized parts store to have the computer scanned. Most don't charge for the service. ALso, check for pressure coming from the exhaust. I'm wondering if it plugged causing the poor running conditions and internally it is cracked and you hear a rattling sound that may sound like a grinding.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

The problem with the light is if it comes on it is right before it dies. How do I check the pressure? I had a new exhaust pipe (from cat to muff) put on about a year ago as well after it fell off while driving. I dont just hear the sound but can feel it.
