(Cultass Ciera) Buying car from Grandma. Regular maintenance by the book. Only locally driven until past weekend, when driven from CA to WA (900 miles) After stopping couple hours into trip, car would not restart so replaced battery, then alternator. Ran great for roadtrip then shut down on the freeway in Central OR-trailered it to WA. Can hear the fuel pump working, so replaced the fuel filter; has spark. Has fuel. Wires are in good order. What are we missing--got to be something with the fuel injection system? Car ran fine for local driving prior & is in great condition.

Welcome to the site, you need to use a gage to check for proper fuel pressure. Yes, you need to check for injector pulse. Use a noid lite on the injector plug, there should be a pulse, engine cranking. If no pulse, look for an rpm signal. I don't suspect the crank sensor. Possibilities, ignition module--wiring circuit to or from the computer.
