My ac in my olds 80 cutlass has never worked. I decided to take off the compressor and other components of the a/c system. The compressor shared a belt with my air pump. The problem is, when I went to put a new v-belt on there isn't a tensioner or adjusting bracket to put the v belt around my air pump---water pump/fan---crankshaft. The adjustment was with the compressor. What can I do?

Put the compressor back on unless it has a bad bearing on the pulley. Having it there, but not working isnt going to hurt anything, plus as you stated it is needed for belt adjustment. Only option is to find the brackets for a car without a/c and buy them and install them
