ok I have a clicking noise in my engine when I brought it to the machanic he said it was the lifters at first when I brought it again the second time he had another person look at it and he said the engine is going cause he said the oil was getting to the top of the engine thats what making my lifters sound like that, when I open my oil cap its dry on the top but reads fine on the dip stick, but I told my friend and he said it just could be your oil pump. Just want a perfessianal opition on this thank you so much guys.

If the head is dry, it means the oil is not getting up to the head and this is causing the ticking noise from the lifters. It could be a faulty oil pump, clogged lubricating lines or a pressure leaks somewhere.

Further analysis would have to be carried out to determine the cause. If the problem had been for a while, there is a possibility the valve trains have been damaged due to lack of lubrication and you might have to replace the head assy and its components.

If it is the oil pump, the bearings would most probably be damaged as well.

Either way, you are looking at the possibility of an engine rebuilt or transplant.

Agreed, the lack of oil to the top usually is a sign of faulty oil pressure by-pass spring in the oil pump being broken. This prevents the pump from making enough pressure to oil the top end of the engine, but sometimes can supply enough to keep the bottom end from being damaged, depending on how long/far it was driven
