Hello,

Great site by the way

we seem to have 1987 oldsmobile cutlass ciera transmission problem

Just bought the car so hope not a serious problem.
was tricked as owner had warmed up car before we arrived. Seemd to drive fine.

here is what happens.
Start engine in morning and it must warm up for 5 minutes until you hear a noticeable engine click down.

Once that happens then you can place in drive and car will move forward.

There is no problem backing up in gear before engine warms up but if you want to go forward car must be warmed up until we hear that notible engine click down.

also had problem with a few stalls but found a plus with 2 wires disconnected from what we think is the crankshaft position sensor after reading your car repair fourms. Looks like we might have to replace.

Thanks for you helps

Hi
Trans poor operation cold is caused by worn seals and piston seals. Allowing pressure to be bleed of not locking up clutch packs. You can try a filter and fluid change can't hurt. And while pan off can check for clutch material etc.
As for crank sensor are wires fron around the crank pully?
Let me know
Thanks for donate
