2001 Oldsmobile Aurora stays in first gear

2001 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Front Wheel Drive 103000 miles

Whenever it rains, the transmission stays in first gear until I shutoff the car and restart it.
Also upon restart the car shifts hard, when wet

First thing I would check is the electrical connectors at the transmission, water intrusion sounds like your problem, blow dry the connectors and then pack some die electric grease into them.
