Noises problem
2001 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Automatic 73000 miles

There is a noise after it warms up. We can't seem to find where it is coming from. It runs smooth, just has a pinging noise. One guy said it could be a pulley or something in the lower part of the engine. The garage said they couldn't tell, just drive it till the noise gets worse. I take it tomorrow to a mechanic that said he would check the belts, if not that, it would probably be engine problems and it was a throw-away engine. We love the car, it's like new, and I hate the thoughts of being ripped off. Please help.

It is really more of a tapping noise. My husband just told me the check oil level message came on today for the 1st time. He checked the oil and it was ok. Its pretty much a constant tap, tap, tap, noise after it warms up. Thanks Kathy

Have the oil pressure checked to rule out a failing oil pump/clogged pick-up screen/oil galleries/worn engine bearings.
