1999 Oldsmobile Aurora

car will suddenly "slam" into reverse and bucks a little into first gear. Rest of gears seem to shift fine. No trouble shifting into drive. And check engine light came on. Is it safe to drive a couple of days til I can get it to the mechanic?

I would recommend having the computer scanned if the check engine light is on. Most parts stores will do it for free. AS far as "is it safe to drive?" I need to know what the code is before I can say.

Have it checked and let me know what you find.
