Air Conditioning problem
2001 Oldsmobile Alero Automatic 222, 00 miles

My air conditioner is very cool but it makes a noise when I turn it on and it feels like it is puller power from the car. I was told the entire Air conditioner needed replaced at a cost of $1659.78. This car is great and I'd like to keep it, but it's not worth 1659.78. Could it be repaired for less?

It's normal for the ac to pull the motor down just a little when the compressor kicks in. BUT, I repeat, BUT $1700 to replace your compressor is a little stiff to say the least. There's quite a bit of time involved, but not $1700s worth. If I were you, I'd shop around a little. Parts and material would around $300.
Hope this helps, let me know how it pans out.
