1996 Oldsmobile 88 Oil Pressure Light on

When I start driving after 3-5 minutesOil Pressure light turns on and it flickers and eventually turns soilid. What is the problem? And how can I fix it? I appreciate your help.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

The first thing that you need to do is get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge, if the pressure is with in spec, then replace the sender unit as it is problem faulty, start here.

Normal oil pressure is 60 PSI @ 1850 RPM hot using 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil. the sender screws into the main oil gallery and this is where the pressure gauge will also attach, see pic for location depending on VIN of car.
