Hi,
I need to know where the computer is located in 1994 Oldsmobile 88 Royale.
Also, I have basic tools and car knowledge, will I be able to replace it myself?

thanks for any input.

It is located under the passenger side dash.
Attached by a few screws and several plugin harnesses.

Can you just swap out a new computer with the old one or is there programming or any other procedures involved?

Yup. Just pull the old one out and put the new one in. No reprogramming is needed.

Thanks Zackman. A guy told me that I need to use the old "chip" with the new computer. I don't see a chip insert in the computer unit. Could you explain what he means.

He was talking about the knock sensor module, sometimes called the PROM unit. It should be attached to the circled area.

My info says only applicable to certain models. If you don't have this one on the old/defective computer module, then you don't need it.
