1989 Oldsmobile 88 thermastat

I'm in of a new thermast in my car but I don't know where to find it. I looked in the port on top of the motor where the upper radiator hose goes into but I couldn't see the thermastat. I need help so my car will heat better.

You will have to remove the water outlet to gain access to the thermostat housing.
