Engine light will not stay off when on motor runs rough?

Hello,

The engine can run rough due to a number of reasons.
It could be for a vacuum leak, worn spark plugs, weak fuel pump, dirty fuel filter etc.

Inspect the spark plugs for gap and ware. Also check for any vacuum leak. You could have a vacuum leak from any of the vacuum hoses. Look for any cracked or broken hoses.

Since the check engine light is illuminated, the best course of action would be to retrieve the trouble code(s). This can help with the diagnostics.
