Hello, I have the vehicle listed above that needs an oil change, the odometer shows a milage of 101,000 miles. The motor shows that it needs a 0-20 oil type while the mechanic nearby is offering to put 10-40 because it is exceeding a certain milage and we should thicken the oil. I don’t know what to do. Please advise me and thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you are not having issues with the engine, continue using the 0w20 oil. See pic below. If this engine has been properly maintained, it is just getting broken in. LOL

If you live in an extremely hot area, you could go to a 5w30, but a 10w40 is too heavy for this engine.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi Joe,
I have never encountered any issue concerning the engine, however the last time when I changed motor oil, the mechanic put 5w30. Is Lebanon considered as an extremely hot area to put 5w30 or should I change back to 0w20 (knowing that this time is the second time for me to change motor oil). Thanks in advance.

As long as the outside temperatures are above 40 degrees F, you can continue with the 5w30. However, I would recommend staying with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Take care,

Joe
