Went in to dealer, they said oil pressure switch was faulty. They were going to replace under warranty. 2 hours later they came out with a photo of a chewed up and literally warped or bent bolt still attached to the manifold. They said they did not do it, that it was like that and now they want me to pay over $700 out of pocket for a new gas pump because they said if they put it back together as is that the gas would leak out as the engine got hot. In the photo there were 2 bolts shown one was prmerfext condition and the other to the right of it was as if vice grips had chewed up the threads abd literally bent it. Otherwise it was shiny silver just like the one to the left. I am left dumbfounded and told them there was never any previous engine work. What should I do. Is this even possible that it was previously bent? It doesn't make sense, otherwise wouldn't it have been spraying gas all over for years? Who should pay for this repair?

Id say" Just get the thing you whent there for (the oil pressure sensor ) right? Stand your ground. Otherwise.
Thares a few things that need to be taken into account like. Was the car driven to the dealership or was it towed in. If driven how was it running when you got there?. If it was running normanlly when driven in. Than it should still be the same when driving out. Also nothing outside of normal wear breaks itself that takes a bit of help. The fuel pumps different from the oil pressure switch And if its not leaking one can only speculate. But ultimately its your decision hope this helps. Good luck

The car was driven in act8ng great, lik3 normal. Just the oil light would come on when the gas pedal was not being pushed. When you gave it gas the light would go off. They said they cannot put it together without changing out the whole gas pump, because of that messed up thread. They said when car warmed up gas would spray out. So my car sits. Them saying the thread was like that and they did not do anything to it when they were taking parts off to get to the oil pressure switch. How do I handle this?

Yeah it sounds fishy. If the car was running normally when you drove it into the shop than Id say if you think theyre the ones that meessed up the bolt . Than maybe ask to talk to the head shop superviser and try to work somthing out they should fix it for free or just fix the oil sensor thats unde warranty anyway and just give you back the car running the same way it ran when you got there. If they broke it right ? Good luck.
