For some time now, I have been seeing oil on top of the valve cover of my vehicle listed above, on where the coil/plug wire is clamped to the plugs on-top of the cylinder head, and the oil use to enter into the spark plug chamber from the top and settles on top of the plug cap area, not in the combustion chamber, hence, when I want to remove the spark plugs, oil will settle on the plugs, while the sparking area will be dry at-times with carbon deposits on it. The oil leaks out from the cylinder head and I have changed the valve cover oil seal.

Can you get some pictures of where you are seeing this oil? I am pretty sure I follow where you are seeing it but when you say on the top of the valve cover and top of the spark plugs it confuses things just a bit.

If you are saying that the oil is in the spark plug cavity then the valve cover is the most likely cause. Which cylinders are you seeing this in? All of them or just some?

Let's start with this and a couple pictures and we can go from there. Thanks

Thank you very much KASEKENNY1, for your response. I will get the pictures, but before then, let me explain more; the oil is usually seen on-top of the valve cover where the plug wire is affixed to the plug cavity and the oil also settles in all the plug cavities although sometime it may settle in one or two plug cavities, but after blowing off the oil in the plug cavities and the car driven for sometime, the oil may settle in another plug cavity[ies].

Okay. That really helps. So that is not a valve cover leak. If the oil is getting all over the top of the valve cover like that, it would have to be dripping on it from a line above it or getting thrown all over by a rotating component. If there oil anywhere else in the engine compartment? Are there oil lines or hoses routed close to the valve cover?

Can you get a overall picture of the engine so I can try to inspect for the possible source?
