Hello,

Could you be a little more specific please? Is it an internal leak and your vehicle is burning oil or is the valve cover gasket leaking oil into the glow plugs?

Thanks,
Alex

I am using Golf 5 gt tsi and I have been experiencing misfire due to oil in the spark plug. So discovered that valve cover gasket is worn out. So can I use silicon to restrict oil leak?

Hello again,

Yes, you can. A good sealant to use on valve covers is black RTV. Just lay a nice even bead all the way around the valve cover, being mindful of the bolt holes, and tighten down the bolts the hold the valve cover to the top of the cylinder head. Start from the middle and work your way out alternating from side to side. Do not over tighten. Just get the bolts snug and then tighten another 1/4 turn and you should be good.

Thanks,
Alex
