Not accerlating when pushing gas

When you say it will not go more than 5 miles, do you mean it will stall after 5 miles of driving or will not go faster than 5 MPH?

I am thinking you mean it will not go over 5 MPH. If so, take a look at these guides and see if anything matches what you are seeing.

Also, do the RPM go really high as if it is stuck in first gear or do they just stay real low and you cannot gain any speed?

Maybe taking a video of the gauges while you are driving it to show what it is doing because this will help get us on the same page. Thanks
