Hi there. My car hydroplaned into a drainage ditch. The car was slanted into the ditch. The water was covering the entire nose of the car. The water was up to the bottom of the car on the driver's side. No water entered the car's interior. When I slid into the ditch my car came to halt. This was yesterday night, this morning I went to the yard to see it and turned it on. The engine sounded different and had a clicking sound. What should I prepare for? Is the car totaled or repairable?

Hi,

A ticking sound could come from many things. Did the engine run smoothly or was the vehicle shaking when it was running?

Let me know. Also, if you could record the noise and upload it for me to hear, that may help me.

Additionally, take a look through this link and let me know if anything mirrors what you experience:

Let me know.

Hey Joe! Unfortunately, the yard wouldn’t let me record anything. The car was not shaking though.

Hi,

If the engine was running smoothly, I suspect the engine is fine and something has moved and been touched by either the serpentine belt or a fan. I wish I could hear it.

Based on how the engine is running, I suspect it isn't anything major.

Let me know what you find or if there is anything I can do to help.

Take care,

Joe
