My truck randomly doesn’t want to start. But will with a jump and will run fine until it doesn’t want to start again. Sometimes it’s just 30 minutes and sometimes it’s more time. I tested my battery and it’s at 12.2v and with alternator running it’s at 14.0. When it doesn’t turn on I turn on the lights and when I go to crank, they dim a bit. I have yet to look at my start but figured I’d see if anyone can help or suggest something first. Also a ground wire from the filler neck isn’t grounded to nowhere but doubt that’s the problem.

Did you load test the battery or just check the voltage with a meter?

You may have a weak cell which is what I suspect it is with it being 12.2 and not slightly higher.

Clearly 12.2 is not terrible voltage but if the engine starts with no issue with a jump start shows that the amperage of the battery may be low.

Let's load check it and then go from there but I suspect this is the issue. If it is not here are the next things we need to check.

Here is a guide if you need it to replace the battery. Please run through all this material and let us know what happens.
