Water pump changed, TDC done before working on pump. And after. Which then affected timing. How do you retime it without pulling everything off.

Hi,

If the timing isn't correct, do not crank the engine. This is an interference engine and it will cause internal damage if the valves and pistons make contact.

As far as timing, you need to take it apart. Otherwise, there is no way to remove tension from the belt.

If you look at the attachments below, they provide the directions for belt replacement. Follow these directions using your old timing belt. The timing marks are indicated as well.

The directions indicate making marks when removing the belt. That won't work if it is out of time. Make sure the marks on the camshafts and the crank are aligned as indicated.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, did all that. Timing marks on cams between the dots and TDC on crank was 2 lines off. This is burning me up. Reassembled and it just crank no start. Found number 6 spark plug with lot of fuel residual.

Have you been able to get it in time? If so, is it running properly now?

Let me know.

Yes after taking timing belt off turning crank timing by itself. Assembly of belt, tensioner, the whole thing. Did not turn it 2 times afterward. Once assembled it started and ran smooth. Now the coolant business. Iol. Will it work?

Hi,

I'm glad to hear you got the timing taken care of. As far as the coolant issue, I'm not familiar with that. If possible, start a new thread related to it. Here is the link to get it started:

Someone will be happy to help if you need us.
