Friend driving home last night truck quit running on him pulling into driveway. Started up and pulled into parking space. Truck would start up and then immediately shut off. Checked oil and none on stick. Added four and a half quarts to fill up. Still will start but shuts off. It does crank, and starts but shuts off immediately, but loud squeal for the second it is running.

Good morning.

The fact that you ran it low on oil has damaged the engine internally. The squealing is the key. The engine most likely is locking up and not able to start. I am afraid you will be either replacing the engine or having it rebuilt.
