My radio will not shut off. The shut off knob will not respond. I turn off the car and it looks like it's off but when all lights go off the radio turns its self-back on which then drains the battery. I pulled the audio fuse thinking that this would only shut down radio, but it also shut sound on blinkers. I need the car for my granddaughters' drivers test, and I am sure the instructor needs to hear the sound. Is there anything other why I can shut off radio and get the sound for blinkers?

Hi,

The audio portion of the blinkers is provided via the radio, so there really isn't a way to reproduce it with the fuse/ power removed.

I'm trying to determine why the radio is turning back on after everything is off. I realize the fuse is powered at all times (based on the schematic). The only thing I can think of to get you through the test is to reinstall the fuse during the test. Once the test is done, either the radio itself will need to be replaced, repaired, or you will need to get power from a source that turns off with the ignition key. That would prevent battery drain. But then, you have to worry about overloading a circuit.

Let me know what I can do to help. I'm just not sure what is the best thing for you. Also, I doubt the instructor would even notice the sound is missing. All vehicles have different indicators. Some are just louder than others.

Please let me know what I can do to help.

Joe
