No headlights

First thing if the wire smoked then it is probably no good now so a harness is in order or repair of it at least. Disconnect dimmer switch on floor then turn headlights on see if they work if they do the switch is corroded, and can be cleaned maybe then use dielectric compound on connector to reinstall. There is only the circuit breaker with in the headlight switch for protection on this setup there are no fuses etc. American autowire makes new harnesses for the earlier cars if you want to do it correctly.
