Okay, turn the key dash lights come on and everything seems to be okay, but the engine does not crank. I hear the fuel pump running but I thought it was supposed to run for three seconds and stop. It runs continuously. I got under truck and bumped starter still no start. I poured gas into the intake bumped starter, engine started but shut off when the fuel was spent. Please help, the truck is in a parking lot, need to fix it.

Is the check engine light on? If not, it sounds like the ECM is bad or the crankshaft angle sensor is not working which is common. A CAN scan will help us tell for sure what's going on. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) from Amazon for about $36.00.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here is a scanner link:

Below is the location of the crankshaft sensor and the ECM so you can check it out by removing the electrical connector and checking for corrosion.

Okay, I have a scan tool and yes, the check engine light was on before for unrelated items. I tried to run my scanner and it all of a sudden cannot link together, it has never done that it has l aways hooked right up. Like I said when I turn the key I get nothing no clicking at the starter well, I get my dash lights.

I'm thinking since the scanner would not hook up (i forgot to mention) it kept telling me to turn my key on and it was on. So, maybe a bad ignition switch?

Yep, it really sounds like the PCM is out. But we should check the fuse on the left side of the dash #26 and #11 that runs the ALDL connector. Here is the wiring diagram for the scanner hook up so you can see how it works. Here is the fuse locations as well.
