Began as what seemed a parasitic draw, eliminated the fuses, starter, battery, alternator, lights, radio, and relays in the process. Cranked a few times in park and neutral, then started up once after jiggling the shifter in neutral now nothing. Tested for power when turning key to start, nothing. Thought it may be the ignition switch, changed that and still do not get any power to the crank fuse on inside fuse box. Should I look at the neutral safety switch?

This sounds like an issue with the park neutral switch.

What I would do is remove the connector for this on the side of the transmission and jump the terminals together in the connector and then try and start the engine.

If this starts then the switch needs to be replaced.

I attached all the info below on this switch and the wiring diagram so that you can run through this.

Please let us know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks

Finally able to remove both pigtails. The uppermost was stuck on by what seems to be an adhesive (perhaps the boot glue) that melted and coated the terminals of the switch. I will attempt to clean it off the wire connection but it's looking like a new tail and switch will be needed (it is that tacky and thick).

Oh wow. Sounds like that is exactly what happened. Thanks for returning to tell us what is happening.

Please let us know what happens when you get that replaced just to confirm for others that this was the issue.

Thanks again.
