2007 Nissan Xterra 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive 30,000 miles

I recently had my gas tank filled, and my gas gauge is reading empty along with my check engine light. It drives fine. Am I in any danger?

Nissan has a bad part in the tank, they finally admitted that to me under pressure, replaced it free after 50,000 plus miles, fight for it as the tank has to be drained and dropped to replace part. Expensive
