Electrical problem
2000 Nissan Xterra 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a Nissan Xterra that was going fine and then it started running rough. After a short distance (about 1 kilometer) it stopped and has not gone since I have tried the ignition and there is no spark at the spark plugs. Also put a diod across the injactor and on cranking there is no pulse.
I have tried another ECU and it has had another crank sencor fitted.
Put a scanner on it and there are no faults showing When I crank with the distributor wiring unplugged it shows a cam sencor fault. Connected all shows O.K
It has a factory emobaliser and the light on the dash flashes when the key is removed and when the ignition is turned on it goes out.
Any sugestions would be appreciated.
NOEL.
Could the distributor be at fault.

Pull the top cover and seeing if the timing belt is sheared. Typically an engine will spin over faster when they go, but this one does not.

Might get lucky and have a fuse blown, but not likley.

Have checked timing and belt was replaced about 10,000 Km ago. Vehicle has done 136,000 Km
Even if the timing in a different place (if it had slipped) it would still produce a spark and injection pulse. I think we have alliminated the cam position sencor as it shows it missing when I crank it over with the distributor unplugged and finds it O.K when plugged in and hooked up to the scanner.
I recal having a C230 Mercedes that would fire but not continue to run and it had a faulty air flow meter. But it had spark So when pooring fuel into the intake it would continue to run.
The Mercedes also had injector pulse and spark.
The nissan has neither.
Is there a way to bypass the emobaliser. Does it emobalise by cutting off the spark and ignition signsl?
I live in Vanuatu and are going to Australia on Wednesday for 3 days (business meeting) and could get a part from there if I could isolate it.
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Sorry for not getting back, hit a deer over the weekend.

Anyways, is the distributer original? Get a look inside for any metal particles. IF so, the bearing may be bad inside it. The bearing is not available through the dealer. I can likley get you the part # for the bearing for outsourcing anyways.

IF the distributor is bad, do not use an aftermarket one.

I will try to update later.
