Trying to decide if having a head gasket repair on a 2000 Xterra is worth the cost.

Background
Just started smelling antifreez in the last week or two. Very faint.
No noticible smoke or overheating.
Oil changed by myself 6 weeks ago and it looked OK. Dirty, but otherwise normal.

It's had a small crack in the passengreside manifold for about 6 - 9 months.

Gurage found a small drip of antifreeze comming off the back side of the passenger side head when it was up on a lift. Figured it dripped 1 ever few min.

No noticible loss of coolant and temp. Guage remains in it's "normal" normal position.

Dealership wants $1,500 - $2,000 for the head gasket job and $800 - $1,000 for the manifold.

Body, interior, and other mechanical components are all in good shape.

Forget the dealer, they charge whey too much, go elsewhere and get your second and third opinions if necessary, although the jobs are quite expensive, they arent that expensive. Keep me posted
