Sisters basket case 2000 xterra 3.3 / Ran hot, Had no Ignition Spark. Replaced Crank Sensor, No Spark, Obtained USED Distibutor Cranks & Runs. Acts like the timing is Retarded. Could I have installed the distibutor 180 degrees out? I had the timing marks on the 1st hash mark and it seems that the rotor button is pointing to number 1 on the cap but I have no lower power. I am at a loss. ANy Ideas?

Hi midtownltd,

If distributor is installed 180 degrees out, the engine would not start.

Most likely the ignition timing is out due to distributor being bolted retarded or the distributor drive gears had been installed out of time by a tooth.

Since engine ran hot, we cannot discount the possibility if a bad head gasket resulting in loss of power.
